Hello, World - Landon Reece

Hi everyone - as you may already know, Landon Reece was born on Tuesday, June 24 at 10:16 p.m. He weighed in at 7 lbs., 3 ozs., and was 20.5 inches long. We got home from the hospital on Thursday afternoon, and everyone is doing fantastic.

Hunter adores his new brother - nothing makes him happier than just holding his brother, whether awake or asleep. He'd rather watch his brother than watch TV - a little miracle in itself!

Despite a little sleep deprivation, Mom is doing great. The labor went smoothly and rather quickly (about five hours from the beginning of the induction to Landon's arrival). Dad is doing well too - sleeping a little more than Mom but just as tired. We are making a good team and are enjoying getting to spend the time with our two wonderful sons. Wow, two sons - sounds so weird!

Landon does what all babies do - sleeps (sort of a lot), eats (a lot), and poops (really a lot). He's already back up to his birth weight after just four days and everything else checks out well. He is extremely alert, which makes the time he is awake even more fun.

We're looking forward to the weeks ahead - they will be filled with lots of laughs and new experiences. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes.

Very Eventful weekend, but still no baby Landon :0(

Today is my official due date and I'm STILL pregnant. I never thought that this little man would stay in here this long, especially since Hunter was born a couple of weeks early. We had a very exciting weekend, so we are actually glad Landon hung in there through the weekend, but now we are ready to see him. If you haven't heard, Hunter was in the hospital all weekend. He came home from camp on Fri with his scrotum very swollen and red. We were just going to take him to urgent care, but the doctor recommended that we go ahead and go down to the er. They thought he may have had torsion (where the vessels twist on themselves and it required immediate surgery to fix.) They got us seen very quickly, to find out that it was NOT torsion, but a bug bite that got infected. We were very happy it wasn't anything more serious. We just thought we would be given some antibiotics and be sent on our way home...but instead the doc wanted to keep him overnight to make sure he responded well to the meds (due to the big MRSA that's going around, they wanted to make sure he would get better.) So Friday night we all stayed and didn't get much sleep at all. The doctor came in on Sat to check everything out. We were hoping to get home Sat, but she wanted him to stay just one more night to make sure it got even better. So Saturday night, Jim stayed with Hunter and sent me home to get some rest just in case Landon decided to arrive at any time. Finally, Sun afternoon the doctor released us and sent us home!!! Hunter was going a little stir crazy and was so ready to be home! He is on antibiotics for the next few days and is doing GREAT!!!
So last night once things started to finally settle down, I realized Landon really wasn't moving around very much. I finally called the doctor and she said to drink a large glass of oj with ice, lay down for an hour and call back if you don't feel him move about 10 times in that hour. Well, in that hour he moved around 6 times, but not very good movements. I called her back and she said come on down to the hospital. We got Hunter over to our neighbors and headed to the hospital. We thought after all the stress of the weekend, it was stressing Landon out and it was his time to come out. Well, we got different news when we arrived at the hospital. My doctor was at the hospital and came in and checked me. I have not changed from the 2 cm that I was on Thur. Plus she said that my cervix is still very far back. She said she would go ahead and induce me, but there would be a very good chance I would end up with a c-section. Sowe decided to wait, all and all she said walk a lot and have them recheck me on Tues. Hopefully I'll change some how. She said then on Wed she will induce if I want her to.

So that's been our CRAZY weekend. We have been out walking today and are hoping for some good news tomorrow at the doctors. We'll keep everyone posted. Sorry for such a long blog, but wanted to inform everyone of the news! Wish us luck!!!

39 Week Update

Hey! I just wanted to let you all know that I had my doctors appt this afternoon. I'm 2 cm dilated and the doctor stripped my membranes to get the contractions started (hopefully!) I've been having a few cramps, but not too much going on so far. The doctor said he should be born this weekend! If not I go back to the doctor on Tues...and I won't be happy :0( So please pray that Landon decides to grace us with his presence SOON! Everyone will be hearing from us once he is born or if any major news happens. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers!!!

39 weeks...And STILL PREGNANT

Hello All! Yes, I'm still pregnant. I went to the doctor Fri and I'm only one cm dilated. Apparently Baby Landon wants to bake a little longer. We had a very busy weekend, so sorry for not posting sooner! My doctor says we'll check again at the end of the week and see if I've made any progress. He said then we can schedule an induction if nothing is going on. I'm really hoping that Landon will come before the end of the week! I'm getting very miserable and so HOT!! I think Jim is ready to kill me with the air situation!!! I really want everything to go natural and would rather him come on his own, but if the doctors need to induce then that is fine too. This is Hunter's last week of camp so I was hoping it would work out where we had Landon and were home from the hospital before next week. My last day of work is Friday unless Landon comes early. I thought with how busy we've been at work that I may go into labor, but no such luck!! We'll keep everyone posted!! Till next time....

37 Week Check Up

The nursery is ready, the bags are packed, and the car seat is bought! Now is just the waiting game till our new little man arrives. The only thing we are missing is... his name!!! As most of you know I want to name him Landon Reese, but Jim and Hunter have still NOT accepted and want something else. The only other name that they have come up with that I somewhat agree on is Bradley, but I still really want Landon. Landon is the first name that I came across that really stuck out to me and that I really love. At this point we can't even talk about the name without arguing about it. Hopefully we have a little more time to figure it out. I'm really tired of referring to him as "the baby." If anyone has any good suggestions, please let us know!My 37 week check up is tomorrow, (Fri. 6/6) but so far I've had no real contractions or anything, so I think he'll be in there a tad bit longer. Jim and I have a breast feeding class to attend on June 10th, so I'm hoping he'll at least stay in until then. After that, I'm all ready. To every ones surprise, even though this isn't our first time, we are very nervous. We are in a much better place in our lives and so many things have changed and are different for us now. Also the fact that we are here alone in Atlanta without family makes it a bigger challenge. I'm sure everything will turn out great, but the unknown is VERY scary. So please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We will keep everyone updated and posted our lil package! Until next time...Christina

So... When to the doctor yesterday afternoon. It was a very uneventful visit. They check my blood pressure, weight, belly size and listened to the baby's heartbeat. They did not do any checking to see if I have dilated yet. So needless to say, we know nothing more then we already did. I have my next check up next Fri, when they will check to see if I have dilated any. I'm hoping that something will happen before then, but we'll see!

Oh another note, Jim has FINALLY agreed on the name. We are definitely going with Landon!!!! I'm so excited. We still like Reece for the middle name, but are still not 100% on that yet.

We'll keep everyone posted on the progress! Hope you'll be hearing from us soon!
